2022 has been a year of significant progress for Aceites ABASA, leading us to craft our first Sustainability Report. This report not only highlights our actions but also outlines a roadmap for the future, acknowledging our impact on the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within this Sustainability Report, we provide a comprehensive and transparent overview of our commitment to the environment and society, along with the key achievements of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aceites ABASA stands as one of Spain’s major companies in the packaging and distribution of vegetable oils. Dealing with a diverse range of raw materials, our primary products include extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, grape seed oil, and avocado oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2022, we achieved a turnover of 216 million euros, marking a 36% increase from the previous year<\/strong>. This success secured our position in the TOP 100 companies in Andalusia<\/strong> and the TOP 10 oil companies in the Andalusian landscape<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our primary focus is on exportation<\/strong>, with over 80% of production sent to more than 45 countries<\/strong>, highlighting Italy and the United States<\/strong> as major destinations. Nearly 80% of our 2022 sales were in bulk products<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have a new global action plan to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all: Agenda 2030<\/strong>. We embrace the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) driven by the United Nations, as they inspire our actions and commitments, believing we can create a fairer and more sustainable world in all aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In fulfilling our responsibilities, here are some of our active contributions to the SDG:<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 2 Zero hunger:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We have\u00a0donated over 100 liters of oil<\/strong>\u00a0to Brotherhoods and Food Banks in C\u00f3rdoba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 3 Good health and well-being:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We have earned\u00a0over 10 quality certifications<\/strong>\u00a0at both the product and company levels, established\u00a02 long-term sponsorship agreements<\/strong>\u00a0with local sports entities, and\u00a0promoted the “olive culture”<\/strong>\u00a0through our internal and external communication channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 4 Quality education:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We have provided\u00a0over 1,200 hours of specialized training<\/strong>\u00a0for the implementation of the new ERP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We successfully reduced our carbon footprint by\u00a020.1% compared to 2020<\/strong>, sourced 27% of our energy from renewable sources, and have a photovoltaic plant project planned for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth<\/span>:<\/strong>\u00a0We experienced a 36% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, a\u00a016% increase in staff<\/strong>, offering remuneration above industry standards and social benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 9 Industry, innovation, and infrastructure:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We have made\u00a0investments exceeding 6 million euros in technology and infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a072% of our national suppliers come from Andalusia and the region<\/strong>, and we are registered with the Regulatory Council DO Baena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We have implemented\u00a0circular economy systems in our production process<\/strong>, achieving a\u00a030% reduction<\/strong>\u00a0in generated waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have established a value network encompassing all initiatives, commitments, and actions aimed at meeting the needs and expectations of our stakeholders. Ultimately, these initiatives generate value for both society and our environment, transcending beyond our economic and financial data. These principles are detailed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The percentage of suppliers from Andalusia has increased by 14%, rising from 63.2% to 71.7% of total Spanish suppliers. We contribute to creating quality employment under good working conditions, encouraging personnel to reside in the same locality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Due to the growth we are experiencing as a company and with the aim of optimizing internal processes and control, and improving data handling for more efficient decision-making, we have implemented a new ERP: the latest version of SAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Commitment to the Environment: There is a reduction compared to 2020; in just two years, we have reduced our total CO2eq emissions intensity by over 20%. Non-hazardous waste from the management of packaging materials, necessary for the proper performance of our activity, has decreased by 49% in 2022 compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are committed to quality and food safety throughout the production process, from the selection of raw materials to packaging and subsequent delivery to the customer. This ensures maximum quality in line with the requirements set out in legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Food Safety: Our Baena plant is certified in various international standards, adding value to our customers in the countries we export to. New certifications have recently been obtained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2022, Aceites ABASA experienced a record growth, with a 164% increase in hires compared to the previous year. Our young and motivated staff has an average age of 32-33 years. 91% have a permanent full-time contract, reaching 100% for office personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On December 14, 2022, we held the first employee convention during the traditional Christmas meal, bringing together employees from both the Sevilla and Baena locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For all these reasons, Aceites ABASA has undergone significant growth, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are proud of our achievements and continue working toward a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jos\u00e9 Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Halc\u00f3n, General Director of Aceites ABASA, emphasizes: “For the coming years, we will continue a clear commitment to Sustainability as a differential value, supporting the local development of the Baena region, without neglecting our internal and external collaborators, who are fundamental pillars for the performance of our activity”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n2.
