Andalusia, the agricultural jewel of Spain, is taking a strong step towards strengthening its agricultural sector. According to\u00a0Olimerca<\/a>, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development of Andalusia has presented the Budget proposal for the Andalusian Government for 2024. In terms of the areas under its jurisdiction, it increases by 12% in its budget, reaching a figure of over 3,451 million euros for the year 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the agri-food sector, several lines of action are planned. Firstly, this commitment reflects the importance Andalusia places on its agricultural sector. Agriculture is not only a vital economic activity but also an integral part of Andalusian identity and culture. These initiatives are a clear signal of support for local farmers, providing them with the necessary resources to face challenges and seize opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A significant portion of this additional budget will be allocated to improving agricultural infrastructure. From modernizing irrigation systems to implementing advanced agricultural technologies, Andalusia is investing in the future of its agriculture. This will not only increase efficiency but also enable farmers to adapt to a constantly changing environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, sustainable initiatives will be supported. Andalusian agriculture has historically been known for its focus on environmentally friendly practices. The Andalusian Government is committed to continuing to promote generational renewal in the Andalusian countryside, allowing 1.800 young people to join in a single year, adding to the 4,000 who have already joined agricultural activities. For this purpose, they have specifically increased the investment to 130 million euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plan for the agri-industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch of a plan related to the agri-industry of Andalusia has been announced, aiming to grow this sector. It includes measures to promote the internationalization of SME, a program for advisory services in digital transformation and sustainability for rural farms and SME. These initiatives will be promoted through the Andalusian Agrarian and Fisheries Management Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the Institute of Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and Organic Production, in 2024, ten new research projects will be initiated in response to institutional or sectoral demands. By the end of 2023, it is expected to have 35 young researchers from the “Investigo” program incorporated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
