{"id":1291,"date":"2024-07-08T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-08T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aceitesabasa.com\/en\/?p=1291"},"modified":"2024-07-04T10:02:31","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T08:02:31","slug":"sustainability-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aceitesabasa.com\/en\/2024\/07\/08\/sustainability-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Aceites ABASA presents its Sustainability Report 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the second consecutive year, in an exercise of transparency and commitment, in Aceites ABASA we have prepared the&nbsp;<strong>Sustainability Report 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This document not only reflects the company&#8217;s achievements and progress in the last year, but also reaffirms our continued commitment to ESG (environmental, social and governance) principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sustainable and transparent growth<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our oil company has managed to consolidate its position as one of the largest packaging and distribution companies of vegetable oils in Spain, with a presence in 45 countries and a turnover of \u20ac243 million in 2023, 13% more than the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase in turnover and exports: a 13% growth in turnover has been recorded by the company, reaching 243 million euros. 80% of its sales are accounted for by the international market, with Italy and the United States being the main destinations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portfolio diversification: despite the drought that affected the sector, the offer has been diversified by Aceites ABASA, significantly increasing avocado oil sales by 73% compared to the previous year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovations in production: the line of packaged products has grown by 8%, and the canning line has been expanded, improving the capacity to respond to market demands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognitions and awards: Aceites ABASA has been ranked among the TOP 100 largest companies in Andalusia and 31st in the ranking of exporting companies in the region. In addition, the &#8220;Bicchiere d&#8217;Oro&#8221; award at the Milan International Olive Oil Awards for its AOVE ABASA RESERVA in the intense fruity category has been obtained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Sustainability Strategy 2023<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to leave the maximum footprint on people and the minimum on the planet and, to this end, we have defined the Sustainability Strategy 2023, in which we set out our commitment in all ESG areas, in 4 strategic pillars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1- Corporate footprint: commitment to the environment<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several key projects have continued to be implemented by the company to minimize the environmental footprint of our activity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A 24.5% reduction in scope 1 CO2 emissions has been achieved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photovoltaic panels for self-consumption have been installed, promoting the use of clean and renewable energies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification in the international standard UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015, which endorses its environmental practices, has been obtained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2- Talent and responsibility<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We understand the importance of having a team whose traits are talent and responsibility, therefore we establish training, conciliation and social benefits measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We invested 4,365 hours in training, 122% more than the previous year, improving the competencies and skills of the team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We are committed to equality through remuneration policies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obtaining certification in the international standard UNE-EN ISO 45001:2018, which guarantees the health and safety of our employees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our own Code of Ethics and subscription to others of international scope.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3- Active territorial identity: fostering local development<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aceites ABASA is not only focused on global growth, but also on strengthening its local environment. Our commitment to Baena and Andalusia remains as strong as it was in our beginnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We formalize sponsorships of clubs and sporting events, donate food and support local NGOs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We prioritize working with local suppliers, with whom we also share our Social Responsibility Policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition, 89% of the plant&#8217;s employees reside in the region, reflecting our commitment to the development of the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4- Beyond the taste<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dissemination of the oil culture: olive oil is one of the most representative products of the Mediterranean diet, due to its properties and qualities. By producing good oil we are promoting the well-being of the population.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction of our own in-house laboratory and training of colleagues for product tastings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compliance with the most demanding regulatory standards (IFS, BRCGS, among others). Thanks to these food safety requirements our products have a superior quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Future prospects for Aceites ABASA<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our CEO, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Halc\u00f3n, reaffirms the company&#8217;s commitment: *&#8221;For the coming years we will continue with a clear commitment to Sustainability as a differential value, supporting the local development of the region of Baena, without neglecting our internal and external collaborators, who are one of the fundamental pillars for the performance of our activity&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aceites ABASA is positioned as a leading company in the vegetable oil sector, not only for our ability to adapt and grow, but also for our firm commitment to sustainability and local development.
